A Breath of Fresh Winter Air

It seems like forever since I have made a new project.  I am taking advantage of this long weekend to play catch up on some card/ project challenges.

This a is challenge from Naki and Nina, called a Double Dare Challenge!  They both come up with something to use on the card, whether it be a color, technique, or tool, and combine them.  DD Challenge #2 was to use an embossing folder and two neutral colors!!  It fit right into a project that I have wanted to do for some upcoming vendor events.  This was cased from (cased from Heidi Boos with www.stuckonstampin.blogspot.com).

A Breath of Fresh Winter Air
It is kind of hard to see on the picture, but I used one of my favorite embossing folders called Perfect Polka Dots.  My choice for the two neutrals was Basic Gray and Whisper White, which I combined with Marina Mist... a beautiful blue that makes me think of a cool winter day.  I embossed the entire piece of Basic Gray, giving it an all around texture.  You open it up to find a box of Fresh Mint Tic Tacs, with a saying attached that reads "Enjoy a breath of fresh winter air, and share some snowman kisses!!" which I typed and printed on cardstock.

Project Ingredients-
Paper- Basic Gray and Whisper White Cardstock, with Polka Dot Parade DSP
Stamp Set- Button Buddies
Stamp Pad- Marina Mist
Tools & Accessories- Marina Mist Ribbon (discontinued), X-Large (2"x1 3/8") Oval Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Snail Adhesive, and Sticky Strip

Card Party... Buffet Style

What a weekend!
I had my first Card Party "Buffet" on Friday night.  While my sister is not a crafty person, she is definitely a very talented person.  She is a Professional Photographer.  Check out her work at www.cherisimages.com.  Wanting to support my passion, she decided to attend the party and take some pictures.  My guests were happy to oblige, and I thought it worthy of sharing. In the interest of her professionalism, let me state that the first two pictures were taken by me... I am sure you can tell the difference.  Maybe you will see how much fun they had, and decide to attend my next event on September 14th.

Buffet Option One... Perfectly Penned
Buffet Option Two and Three... A Statement with a Punch and Flutter By Greetings
Moving on down the buffet line... meet Patty and Marvene.  The two elegant ladies really know how to
party in style.  Cheri was really able to capture their classy details, while also capturing their card making skills.

This card was my last creation for the buffet.  My guests really made it their own by placing the greeting and butterflys in various positions on the card.  The Curly Cute Stamp Set used for the greeting was a huge hit that night!
You can see Kathy's card in the background.  She enjoyed using new embellishments and learning new techniques.
Just a couple of my previous challenge cards that Cheri photographed while she was there.
I am thinking she should be in charge of all my future blog photos!!!

So, I can't promise a professional photographer at my next gathering, but I can certainly promise some fun and creativity.  Stay tuned for details on that September 14th gathering.

Thanks for visiting my blog. If you like this post, please leave a comment, and share it with your friends on facebook or Pinterest. Glad I could share My Therapy with you!! ~~ Bobbi

PPA Challenge 141- Just Scrap It

I was so excited when I was setting at my work desk this week and saw the new design challenge.  Not only was the timing perfect for me, but I know I will use this layout idea for future cards.  Love it!

http://stampinpretty.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54f95df92883401761730c30d970c-pi

I was buried in scraps, as I was working hard on getting 80 card kits made for my Card Buffet later in the week.  Of course, I was working with one of my favorite new DSP- Polka Dot Parade.  I have really been wanting to use the Button Buddies Stamp Set, and saw this as a perfect opportunity to tie in the Polka Dots and Buttons.  The best thing was, beside the Whisper White card base, the rest of the card was completed with SCRAPS!!!  I even pulled out my new Cannery Framelits Dies to make the greeting appear to be in the shape of a cherry.  I know… kinda silly, but it’s all in the details!!

Card Ingredients:

Card Stock- Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Real Red, and Old Olive
DSP- Polka Dot Parade
Stamp Pad- Old Olive
Stamp Sets- Button Buddies (WM- 122735 or CM- 122737) and Perfectly Preserved (WM- 126690 or CM- 126692)
Tools & Accessories- Brights Designer Buttons (119747), Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine (125572), Cannery Framelits Dies (127822), Sticky Strip and Stampin' Dimensionals

Thanks for visiting my blog and for checking out my challenge card. If you like this post, please leave a comment, and share it with your friends on facebook or Pinterest. Glad I could share My Therapy with you!! ~~ Bobbi

Pals Holiday Catalog Blog Hop... and my OWLganizer!!

Glad you could join us for some holiday crafting with the Stampin' Pretty Pals! You've probably hopped over from Nicole Watt at Impressions by Nicole. I'm stop number 25 on the Pals Hop and I'm glad you hopped in! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for Stampin' Up! projects featuring the new Holiday Catalog! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you'll be back on track.

I am so happy to be joining in on my very first Pals Blog Hop.  I hope you enjoy my Holiday Organizer.  However, I am calling this one my OWLganizer because I used our great new Snow Festive Designer Series Paper, highlighted with images from the new Owl Occasions Stamp Set.

I had so much fun making this project.  I saw something similar last year, that was shared as a "Twelve Days of Christmas" Project Blog from my friend and fellow consultant, Karen Herrmann.  It appears that she did hers thru MDS, but I tend to like the 3D look better.  I livened it up quite a bit and made it "mine".  It is made with a Stampin' Up Clear Mount Stamp Case.  The inside left has a calendar for both November and December.  I am making some for an early December craft show that I will just use a December calendar on.  These calendars were printed from www.myfreecalendarmaker.com.  There is a blank card connected to each of the tabs on the inside right.  They can serve as a divider as well as a place to keep a list.  Ideas for the tabs... "Shopping List", "Gifts Purchased", "Receipts", or "To Do".  You can use it for whatever helps YOU stay organized during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

Project Ingredients:

Paper- Snow Festive Designer Series Paper (#126908), Cardstock- Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, and Gumball Green
Stamp Set-  Owl Occasions (Wood Mount #128000 or Clear Mount #128003)
Stamp Pads- Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, and Soft Suede
Tools & Accessories- Apothecary Accents Framelits (#127003), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (#113439), Large Pearl Basic Jewels (#125557), 2 1/2" Circle Punch (#120906), 1 3/4" Circle Punch (#119850), 1 3/8" Circle Punch (#119860), and Modern Label Punch (#119849)

Another Sketch Challenge Entry... Mojo Monday #53

Trying to catch up on all my challenge deadlines before I sneak away for the weekend.  This one is my first Mojo Monday entry, and I have already seen some of the entries, but hey... it's all in fun, even if I don't win.  Here is the Sketch I worked from, I just took a "spin" on it.

When I sat down to work on this last night I ran across my Apothecary Accents Framelits and knew I had to use them on this card somehow.  Of course, using my Framelits for the first time led me to wanting to use my new Essentials Paper-Piercing Set also.  This is what I used to do the piercing accents on the inside of the solid cardstock pieces. It was the perfect addition for a subtle embellishment, along with the pearls.   Whenever I work with butterflys I  think of gentleness and subtlety.

Card Ingredients...

Paper- Patio Party DSP, along with Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse, and Baja Breeze Cardstock. The Primrose Petals and Midnight Muse are two of the five new 2012-2014 In Colors.
Stamp Sets- Wacky Wishes (Hostess Collection) and Papillion Potpourri
Stamp Pad- Primrose Petals
Tools & Accessories- Apothecary Accents Framelits, Big Shot, Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, and Stampin' Dimensionals

Make a Statement with a Punch!!

I have been working hard this weekend to complete a project that is due tomorrow.  Our local Harley Party, a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Topeka, is August 18th, and I am making a card basket for the Silent Auction.  As part of this basket, I want to include several birthday cards since that seems to be the biggest occasion for card giving.  I had seen a card several months ago that I had always meant to case.  I cannot recall who made the one I had originally seen, but this is a similar effort, only with brads vs. buttons, and a different color and paper scheme.  I love that we can do so much with punches!   The only stamp I used on this was for the greeting itself.  I made a variety of these cards, using the five colors in the 2011-2013 In Color Collection, including Calyspso Coral.  This card only showcases four of the colors, as listed below. It is hard to see from these photos, but there is a solid color circle in the background of each flower, with the middle one in the dotted print, another solid of the same color, finished off by a coordinating brad.

Card Ingredients...

Paper- 2011-2013 In Colors, including Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral (not shown), In Color Designer Series Paper Pack (#122384) and Whisper White Card Stock.
Stamp Set- Perfect Punches (Clear Mount- #120516 and Wood Mount- #117022)
Punches- 1" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, 2" x 1 3/8" Oval, and Decorative Label.  The leaves were made with the 1" Circle Punch and a little bit of creativity!
Other- Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (used with the Big Shot), Island Indigo Stamp Pad, Designer Printed Brad in 2011-2013 In Colors, Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the greeting, and Sticky Strip.

"Amazing Birthday" Card for an Amazing Kid

Well, before I went back to working on more "spooky" creations today, I decided to make a birthday card for an amazing "kid" I know!  I am doing double duty by making this a card I can enter into the Freshly Made Sketches, Challenge #46.  This card incorporates some of my favorite new DSP and Stamp Sets from the World Spectacular Design Suite.

The two stamp sets I used are on page 33 of our 2012-2013 Full Catalog.  The main sentiment on the front comes from the You're Amazing Stamp Set (#126722 Clear $22.95 or #126720 Wood $30.95) and the Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set (#125981 Clear $20.95 or #125979 Wood $28.95).  I also used the 1 image from this same stamp set on the inside of the card.

Other Card Ingredients...
Paper- World Spectacular DSP, Cherry Cobbler Cardstock, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, and Island Indigo Cardstock.
Stamp Pad- Island Indigo
Tools and Accessories-  Top Note Bigz Die (#113463), 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1 3/4" Scalloped Circle Punch, 3/8" Designer Printed Brads, Island Indigo 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, Calypso Coral Organza Ribbon (retired), and Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the Happy Birthday image.

Ghoulish Googlies...Scary or Just Plain Cute?

While I don't have young children, and don't get many trick-or-treaters, I still love Halloween!  When we got the new Stampin' Up Holiday "Mini" I was so excited about the Halloween selections.  Here is a look at one of my faves, AND it is available in a bundle to save you 15%.

These are the bags I created tonight using the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit and the Ghoogly Ghouls Stamp Set. Take note of those fun Googly Eyes!!  I colored the witch using a blender pen and coordinating stamp pads.  The 2 3/8" scalloped punch and Old Olive Cardstock was a great background for the round tags, and our Pumpkin Pie 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon was a great accent.

The Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit (#126914) includes 20 printed double-sided tags, 10 bags (3" x 5" x 1 1/2"), 50 adhesive-backed googly eyes, and 10 pieces of Baker's Twine.  It can be purchased separately for $7.95.  The Googly Ghouls stamp set comes in wood mount (#128060) for $16.95 or clear mount (#128063) for $12.95.  The Ghoulish Googlies Bundle (Designer Kit with Stamp Set) is $20.95 for wood mount (#129852) or $16.95 for clear mount (#129853).

Stay tuned for some fun cards that I hope to get finished this weekend using this stamp set and thenew Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper!

Pals Paper Arts Challenge #140

Welcome to my first Challenge!  The Stampin' Up group that I am part of is Stampin' Pretty Pals. They do two challenges each month, and I hope to start participating in each one.

This is a color challenge, using three Stampin' Up Colors.  See how I have incorporatated these colors, three of my personal favorites, into one card!  Although I love them all, I am not sure I would have thought to combine them, but I am very happy with my final result!!

I used Summer Starfruit as my card base.  This is one of our new 2012-2014 In Colors.  The other colored cardstock is Marina Mist, part of our Subtles Collection.  Last but not least, Real Red is used as my main Accent Color.  It is part of our Brights Collection. I purposefully attached the layers to the upper left corner to show more color of the color by my image.  See the list below for my card ingredients.

Stamp Sets- Occasional Quotes (hostess collection) and Betsy's Blossoms (126006)

Paper- Summer Starfruit (126839), Marina Mist (119682), and Whisper White (100730), along wtih Birds of a Feather DSP (126899)

Our NEW Classic Stamp FOAM pads-  Summer Starfruit (126991), Marina Mist (126962), and Real Red (102482)
